First week at the MTC

Friends of Christina.

I am now able to post Christina's missionary letters on her blog. I will post the first letters she's already written, then will post every weekly letter when we get them.

Hola mi familia!

How are things? I am fantastico! I can't believe I had only been 3 days, the days here are so long but also go by fast....its weird. My companions name is Hermana Baptista she is Dominican and from New York City but has lived in Provo for 9 years. She is serving in El Salvador and Belize. No one in my District is going to serve in my mission. There are 9 of us most of them are native speakers. I feel pretty far behind, I was kind of wondering if the guy who put me in the advanced group knew what he was getting me into!! But Thursday I was in class and feeling pretty overwhelmed about not being able to communicate all of my thoughts and feelings in Spanish, when my teacher shared with us that were are exactly where the Lord wants us to be. The Spirit testified to me that even though I feel I am not ready to be in the experianced group that that is where I am suppose to be. Also my comp has reminded me that I need to let myself go and just know that I am going to make mistakes but that is ok.

In the morning the sisters have the opportunity to go to a work out class so far I have gone to a yoga, kick boxing and abs class. Its really fun. Also we have our additional gym time. The Elders are a little jealous.

I saw Mitch or Elder Hadfield on Thursday for the first time! I had been looking for him all day and the day before. Its so weird to shake his hand. I actually see him quite often. Its nice to see a fimilar face. He will be here till December Idon't envy him trying to learn Ukrainian.

My schedual  here changes every day. I finally had a goods nights rest last night. I am so tired by the time I get to bed. Oh i got dad's package on Thursday. It was amazing to get a letter. I felt so loved and a little less home sick. Dad your hilarious. My retainer it look weird in that case. And the chocolate was delish!

My Branch President is really great. In my interview he challenged me that I need to become converted before I can help convert others. That is something that I am working on. On trying to let my whole purpose become focused on the Lords will. He also enccrouged us not use words like cool and awesome. Because we are not longer teenagers and we need to beome missionaries that members of out ward will trust. Its hard and I always have to remind my self of that.

Something that we here a lot is a quote from Sister Beck "obediance leads to blessing, but exact obediance leads to miracles"

Well thats about all for today, I think that I will be able to write on Wednesday...I think. I love you all and miss you so much!

Love,
Hermana Davies
