Amazing people in Xequemeya

3 February 2014

Hola,

Que tal? Things are good here. There are changes tomorrow but neither my comp nor I have changes so Halleluiah. She only has a change left so I will be sending her home...and then I go home. I think there was some confusion. My release date is for May 1st. So I will come home to Germany...but enough about that....

These past few weeks have been so weird we have hardly had a whole day in our area. It’s a little frustrating but things work out. Oh, on a side note, Brad has an iPad. What the weird...he so blessed. So did you see the news article about Elder Cook in Guatemala? Cool how my pic shows up...but not as cool as having a kid on your lap. It's such a complicated thing. Kids just climb on you all the time. And I got caught. My zone is loving it.

Yesterday was cool we went to a village called Xequemeya. It’s technically not a branch or ward; it’s just there. But there are about 30 active members there. I think they need more priesthood to become their own branch. But the people there are amazing. There is a sister there, Maria Diaz. She is amazing! She is letting 2 sisters live in her house without paying a thing and one of them has 2 kids. She just started raising pigs and grows mushrooms in this huge tent thing. But the people there are so humble. And so happy. I'm not not sure who said it in conference, that we have too much of what doesn’t matter and not enough of what truly matters. And it’s the truth. People who understand that are will be truly happy.

Yesterday, a Hermana in our ward shared her testimony. She shared a dream she had about getting to Heaven and her family started to be divided. Her youngest son was dressed in white and went to one place her other son another, and her and her husband to another. And the anguish she felt seeing her family being divided. She also shared some other parts of her dream and other dreams she had. But they all focused on eternal families. She told us how this dream has motivated her to work harder. As she told us these things, I thought of all the people who won’t live with God because they haven’t come to the knowledge of the truth. I am so grateful to be part of this work and help people come unto Christ. I know this is Christ’s church. I am so grateful that I am part of it. I hope you all find a little way to share of this great blessing this week.

Les quiero,
Hermana Davies

Here’s the news article Christina was referring to. It reports on a member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles visiting Guatemala. You can see Christina on the pew, holding a child, in one of the pics.
