Hola Familia y Feliz Ano Nuevo!
It was so nice to talk to you last week! It sounds like you
all have had a lot of fun during Christmas break! I laughed so hard about how
you ran to the car in the rain, and you turn around to find Brad without his
pants on! It made me think of when he was little and we dared him to take a
shower under the rain gutter. Ohh man. Christmas here was good, we went to
a bunch of homes, and ate a lot of paches. They are like tamales but they can
be made out of potato, rice, or maza.
This week was good we got to know a lot more of the area. I
feel like every day I learn of a new street or something in our town. There is
a lot more area to cover here in San Mateo so we walk a lot. Our Zone leader
said in our meeting last week work with your head not your feet. Its so
true...We are really trying to work with the members here and with less active
families.
I spoke in church yesterday. They asked us to speak on
Christmas, which I thought was weird since that was last week. So I talked
about the 3 wise men because they visited Christ after the Saviors
birth. I talked about how our friends and family who are not members are like
the wise men and how they are seeking truth in their lives but they
know not where to find it. And how we are like the stars and we can help guide
them to Christ. I have been realizing how important members are in missionary
work. Really it would be ideal if we never had to knock on a door and we could
just work off of references. Also, they are so important in helping new
converts stay active.
We got a bunch of references this week, I am excited to
work with them.
Thank you so much for all the Christmas presents! I enjoyed
all of them. Hermana Suliafu and I loved the chocolate, man I miss German
chocolate!
We have been challenged to read The Book of Mormon
before conference. I have never gotten so much out of reading the scriptures as
I have in the mission. Every day I learn so much. I just finished reading Enos.
I really love the last verse where he talks about meeting God when he dies. I
encourage you to read it.
I can’t think of anything
super exciting that happened this week sorry no funny
stories. I love you all keep the letters coming!
Love,
Hermana Davies
