Buenos Dias,
Thanks for the letters it really makes my day to hear
what you all are doing! Sounds like mom will have a fun week being a grandma!
Your family history calling sounds fun I hope you activity is successful!
Dad I hope you get back on your regular schedule soon! Nights are the
worst. Tomorrow we will be getting a bunch of new missionaries, I think
we will also be getting some of the 18 and 19 year olds which will be awesome!
President Bautista said we should have about 250 missionaries by the spring!
Things are great here! This week I think on Saturday
I experienced my first earthquake! It was pretty exciting it was just
a little shake that didn't do any damage.
There is a family in our branch and the mom is a
member and the dad is not. They have 3 kids. Two girls who are 12 and 11 and a
little boy who is 4. And he dad has not allowed the daughters to be baptized
because he has said they are too young to make that decision. But we went over
to their house last week and were just talking with him and randomly he brought
up that if his 12 year old wanted to be baptized he would let her. So we went
back a few days later and had a little family home evening. We had talked to
his wife about wanting to teach her daughters and getting permission. She said
usually he is nicer to hermanas but missionaries have tried in the past but he
has always said no. So after the lesson Hermana Suliafu asked the dad, M, if we
could teach his daughter (we thought he would only allow the oldest). But when
she asked he said, “Which one?” And we replied “uhh Both?” And M said “ya, when
do you want to come over?”
So we are going over there tonight to teach his
daughters and we are so excited!! We have also started teaching another part
member family. The dad is less active and the mom is not a member. We taught
them last night and the lesson went really well. They are really interested in
how to know if someone is a prophet or not because there are many people here
who claim to be prophets. The husband L’s, facial expressions kill me. When we
told him to you can discern if the spirit is speaking to you he looked to
shocked/surprised/happy. He was like “Why has no one told me this before!” We
are hoping they continue to pray, read and seek an answer if our
message is true. They sell frozen bananas and fries from their house. We are
going tomorrow to help make the frozen bananas with the wife. I’m
pretty excited about that.
Oh we finally moved into our house today! It’s
going to be nice to have our own space. And a kitchen. We haven’t really been
able to have breakfast for the last month because we had nowhere to cook. So we
just had graham crackers and saltines...it got old. But now we can cook and do
our laundry! Wooo.
I am so glad to be here! I know this church is
true, and that missionary work is the most important work in God’s Kingdom. Its
not always easy (for example when no one is home because they are all at the
same party) but it is so worth it. And God will always provide a way if we ask
and we are obedient. I know that Heavenly Father softened M’s heart
to allow his daughters to take the lessons.
I hope you are all doing well! Miss and love you!
Love,
Hermana Davies
