Hola!
This week I must say was pretty fantastic. For one I
am no longer sick! Wooo! I got a blessing last Monday, I decided before the
blessing if I felt I needed to take the test then I would. But I didn’t feel I
should. We didn’t eat with members till about Thursday, which was good so I
could control what I eat. I love eating with the members because they are so
kind to feed us. But sometimes Guate food is a little....questionable. There is
a member who cooks for us on Saturdays her name is Flori. And we look forward
to her meals all week. She is such a good cook and my stomach never feels gross
when we leave. She made this carrot salad with pineapple on Saturday it was
delish.
We are still working with the two sisters to get
baptized on the 23rd. I think that their mom is a little discouraged, but we
have faith it will happen. We had a lesson with the girls last night in their
aunt's house. I love their Aunt she is really honest with her sister about how
important it is her daughters get baptized. Their aunt always calls us
Hermanitas preciosas. It’s so cute…yesterday in Sunday school she called Moses,
Moisesito. Like Lil'Moses. It was pretty funny.
Yesterday we had a lesson again with J. ( I think I
told you about him, he said he didn’t want to get baptized because he had already
been baptized into the Catholic church). But anyway, we have had a few lessons
since then. Yesterday we planned to teach him and his wife about the Book of
Mormon. But she was busy in the kitchen so we just taught him. We started off
asking him if he had any questions or doubts. And we had a really good lesson
on authority. We also compared his baptism to Christ’s baptism. He expressed
doubts about his baptism before because it was not like Christ’s. At the end of
the lesson I asked him if when he found out our message was true if he would be
baptized. And he said he already knew what we were teaching was true and he
wanted to be baptized! It was awesome! But, we challenged him to read and to
pray to know for himself. I just pray his wife can come to know the same
things.
Being here is so humbling. Seeing the struggles of the
people and what challenges they have to overcome really make you grateful for
what you have. But I am even more grateful to have the gospel in my life, and
being raised by parents who taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ. This week I
read in Alma about the armies of Helaman and how they didn’t doubt because
their mothers had taught them. I am so grateful and indebted to my parents for
what they have taught me. I am so grateful to be on the mission to share the
gospel of Jesus Christ with the people of Guatemala. I know Christ lives and
this is His church.
I love you all and hope you have a awesome week!
