A hard week.

Hola!

I will just start out by saying that I love getting all of your emails and pictures! It’s nice to hear what you all are doing!

Well I’m not gonna lie...this was probably the hardest week so far. This week we focused on finding the inactive members. Most of them have not been to church in years. I’m gonna have to say I have never been lied to so many times in a day.

And S and M's baptism fell through! Ahh it was the worst! We talked to their mom on Tuesday and she said their dad had given them permission, they were just going to talk about it a little more. And then on Thursday we talked to her on the phone and she said their dad said no! It was pretty disheartening. But I was reading through my notes from the MTC from a talk by Elder Bednar. In this talk he compares missionaries to cookie monster who basically say “I want cookie now” or “I want baptism now!” And really this work isn’t about us and it never will be. This work is about the Savior and his power to change people and to bring people unto him.

This week a member was a great example to me about not being offended. So many times we see members here fall away because they are offended by other members. We went to visit this member F because we had heard she was really sick and could not work. We went to her house to see if there was anything we could help her out with. Also about 2 weeks ago the Relief Society took some food over to her house because she and her children had nothing to eat. Anyway, we were really concerned for her so we stopped by here house. While we were there we shared a little message and she explained to us she had an infection in her lungs that was really painful. We said a prayer and were about to leave when she just started crying. She explained to us how the family she worked for did not actually believe she was sick and told her that if she didn’t come to work she would be replaced. What is really sad is that the family she works for are members of the church. She explained more of her work situation. And it was really sad to see how she had been treated while working for this family. But after she explained all of this to us she said it didn’t matter if they were members and she wasn’t going to let this get in the way of her going to church. It would be so easy for F to say she was not going to go to church any more but she chose to forgive and not let this affect her relationship with God.

There are challenges in this life that seem unfair. But when we put our faith in Christ we will not crumble under the pressure of trials or adversity. I know my Savior lives and he loves us more then we will ever know. He knows our pains and sorrows and he is waiting for us to come unto Him and give us rest and heal us. He will not forsake us.

You should all watch this video

I love you all!
