Buenos Dias!
Que tal? How is everyone doing? I am doing fantastic! Well this week has been very different because I started training! I must say I was sad to leave Hermana Suliafu, I learned so much from her and we had a lot of good times together.
On Tuesday, I was able to visit the temple. I wasn’t able to go inside but it really is a beautiful temple, I can’t wait until I can go inside. Probably in December.....
Also on Tuesday, I got my daughter! Her name is Hermana Soler and she is from El Salvador. She is cool and knows the scriptures really well. I have a lot I can learn from her. This week we worked really hard to find new people to teach. Because no one is progressing! Bah! The president gave us a goal to get 4 baptismal dates this week. Our district all fasted on Thursday for this. Well we got 2 but they both fell yesterday because they didn’t go to church, so they are more like goals then really set baptisms.
But S and M are back on. There mom said that she would talk to her husband one more time and if says no she is just going to do it. I believe her this time.
Jose went to church yesterday! Woo it was great but he escaped after sacrament. But having a investigator come to church is the best feeling!
Training is pretty hard because I feel a lot more pressure to be obedient and to complete our goals. I was feeling pretty overwhelmed on Wednesday because of the new goals and training. But I was reminded of Nephi and how he was led not knowing where to go. But also how the Lord did not command anything without preparing a way to go. And I know it’s the same with me the Lord with guide us little by little until we reach our goals.
Weekly 5 questions:
What do most people in Guatemala use for daily transportation?
The bus or their feet.
- What are your primary modes of transportation?
MY feet or the bus.
- What’s it like to ride the bus in Guatemala?
So mostly we walk in our area. We take a bus to get to Xela or to our zone meetings. It’s not really a bus it’s more like a van. And usually it’s super full. But to get home we go to the terminal. The terminal is full of American school buses that are painted different colors. Sometimes those busses have TVs that show music videos. Lots of people come on those busses and sell ice cream, and fried banana chips.
- How much do you walk a day?
I have no idea but a lot!
- Has anything funny or interesting happened to you when you were walking around?
Hmmm. We get whistled at a lot. One time in San Bartolo we heard someone whistle at us but we kept walking. Then they started yelling at us and yelling Hermanas. Then we heard someone running after us. We turned around at it was an inactive member who is always drunk in the street. He just wanted to apologize to us for not coming to church. We told him not to apologize to us but to God.
Love,
Hermana Davies
