Happy Father's Day!

17 June 2013

Hola everyone!

This week was a great week! So I don’t know if I told you but the mission rule is that you can only go to the temple once you have made a year and when you go home. Or if you go with recent converts. Well somehow our Zone Leaders got permission for us to go last Friday! Ah, it was amazing. It was so nice to feel the spirit in the temple. But I do have to admit it was a little difficult to focus with it all in Spanish.

I don’t remember if last week I told you that a man came to church all on this own. Well we have no idea who invited him; the members don’t even know who this Juan Carlos is. We are pretty sure that the person who invited him is from another church and Mario ended up walking into the wrong building. But seriously, Mario is a miracle. Mario works in the street and directs people to the right bus. Last week when we talked to him he said he only believed in Christ’s 12 disciples not Smith and Snow (he went to Sunday school where they use the Teachings from President Snow manual). He said it may be lack of better knowledge but he doesn’t believe in more prophets. We went to his house later that night to make an appointment. We were talking to him in the doorway and he told us that his wife died 3 months ago. I had the Plan of Salvation pamphlet in my bag, which I usually never carry but we gave it to him and said we could come back on Saturday night. Well, we came back on Saturday and he had read the pamphlet three times! The lesson was so good! He talks a lot. It is hard to teach but he is really open once you start to explain things. After I shared the first vision he started to talk about Moses leading the children of Israel which was weird, but I think Joseph seeing Heavenly Father and Christ reminded him of Moses and the burning bush. But he started to cry! Well he went to church on Sunday and loved it. We came after church and he had read about half of the gospel principles manual. We talked about what the spirit feels like and he said he has felt something in him but isn’t ready to tell us yet. But he does want to be baptized. And every time he talks about returning to live with God he cries. He is such a sweet man. Oh and I should mention that his house smells like Grandpa Davies’ house. So I feel like I am sitting in Grandpa’s house when we are teaching.

This week was really good because all of our investigators are progressing and are super awesome. Also my comp is loving the mission more, which is great! I am so glad I am in the mission. It’s amazing to see people change and feel the spirit in their lives. I know this is the gospel of Jesus Christ and by following his plan we will be happier and have amazing blessings in this life and the life to come.

Love you!
Hermana Davies
