Buenos Dias!
Thanks for all of the birthday wishes! I loved
the package! I can’t believe all of the things that you packed in there especially
all of the Italian snacks and Coco's Curry! I can’t wait to eat it! I also
loved all of the confetti! It was quite a surprise. I was thinking I’m pretty
sure I’m the only missionary in Guatemala to get curry in the mail!
Well this week has been another eventful week!
Guess what happened? That’s right, I had changes! Again! On my Birthday!
So the President calls and I’m thinking to wish
me happy birthday, but he starts asking me about my comp and how she is doing
and that sort of thing, and then hangs up. Bueno. So I’m thinking he is checking
in to see if she should train but she doesn’t finish her training for another 8
weeks. So I was confused and I go about my morning. About 10 minutes later he
calls me back to tell me that I have been called to be one of the Hermana Zone
leaders. And my comps will be Hermana Raya and Hermana Villeda. I thought he
meant for this coming change, ah, not today. So, Hermana Cuevas and I started
running and packing everything. Also because our apartment is so small they couldn’t
fit another person, so we had to switch houses with the Elders.
So I am still in Jardines but I am in a trio! I
think it will work our well. Hermana Villeda is from El Salvador and will
finish the mission in about 6 weeks. Hermana Raya is from Mexico and entered
the mission the same time I did. I am really excited to be their comp because
they are great missionaries and I can learn a lot from them.
Yesterday we had a fellowship night with our investigators
and members. It was really nice. I made a ton of curry. I think it turned out
pretty good and everyone seemed to like it. Members brought tamales,
which were also quite tasty. I think I’m gaining weight in Jardines. A member
from San Mateo saw me in the terminal and didn’t think it was me cause she said
Hermana Davies is skinnier then her, and she told me I was getting fat. I love
how open people here are about talking about your weight.
This week we had some pretty special experiences.
We taught Zara and Carlos this week with a member. Zara is 29 and her son is
10. They are really special. We taught them about the Plan of Salvation. Zara
expressed that she was unsure if she could really return to live with her
Heavenly Father, also if she could really be forgiven for her sins. As we spoke
to her I felt the spirit tell me that I should tell her that her Heavenly
Father loves her and has not forgotten her. I have never before felt so
strongly to tell someone something before. It was a really sweet experience to
feel the love that Heavenly Father has for her.
We are still teaching Mario. Yesterday in
church he asked if he could buy a Bible like we use. I told him when he gets
baptized he will get one. He seemed pretty excited about that. But this week
has been full of great experiences. One of them was going to a baptism in
another ward. I know that God loves all of his children no matter what they do.
He wants us to come back to him that is why this work is so important. I know
that baptism is real, it’s not just a rite of passage. When we are baptized we
are cleansed from all of our sins and we start our journey back to our Heavenly
Father.
I miss you all and hope you are doing great!
Love,
Hermana Davies
**From the dad: this week was Christina's "Golden Birthday." In our family, we celebrate Golden Birthdays when your age is the same as the date of your b-day. So, for Christina, she turned 22 on 22 June. Christina's mother did a wonderful job finding golden things to send her. Since we couldn't spend her Golden Birthday with her, we tried to make it special by sending her some fun things from home. Looks like she enjoyed it! The Dad
