Helping the boy down the mountain

12 January 2014

Hola!

How is everyone? Sorry about the short email last week. We had no time to write.
There were things I was going to tell you last week...but I forgot. And I have to be honest, I haven’t been good about writing in my journal recently. Which I know I am going to regret later. But my goal is to start writing again...I’m just so tired at night.

This week was good. Jacklyn was going to be baptized this Saturday. But her mom didn’t give her permission. We had a really good lesson with them on Thursday. Her mom is super catholic but I think she will change her mind. It might be a while. Parents are frustrating sometimes. But the lesson was awesome. The Spirit was so strong. I pray that her mom’s heart was softened.

The most amazing thing this week was that Carlos accepted to come to church and he came. Miracle!! Carlos is a 17 year old chico who broke his leg a couple of months ago and had surgery. He lives in a mountain that doesn’t really have a good path. He has been using the excuse that he can’t get down the mountain since before I got here. But we had a really good lesson with him about how he came to this world to progress and not to sit in his room for the rest of his life. And if he really believed God was a God of miracles then why did he believe that God wouldn’t protect him. And then finally he said "Do I have to go to church again if I don’t like it?" ahah! I said yes because he has to at least go to church this Sunday because Elder Cook will be visiting. So two members came with us on Sunday to help him down the mountain. His mom was all concerned because they have spent a lot of money on his leg. But it was a more of “I don’t want my son to go to church” concern. But everything went well and everything at church too. And the young men were really good at welcoming him and being his friend.

This week is going to be amazing because on Saturday we are going to have a mission conference and Elder Cook (an LDS Church General Authority) is going to come speak to us. And then on Sunday, Elder Cook is going to come to Momos and speak in our chapel. We are so blessed. We have been inviting the whole world to come this Sunday. We are so blessed to have a living prophet and to have apostles. I know they are God servants. Every time I hear them speak I can feel their special spirit and authority. Have a great week!

Love...su hija,

Hermana Davies
