New Year's Fireworks and How Badly do You Want to Breath?

7 January 2014

Buenos tardes!

This week was super good! The Barrios family was baptized! Hermana Karina, her sister and 3 of her kids. And Elisandro her brother accepted to be baptized last night. We are so happy!

So we got back late from Xela today so I don’t have that much time to write. We had to buy all of our food for the month because we can only go to Xela once a month and the food here is super expensive.

New Years was really fun. A member invited our whole zone over for dinner. We watched the members light off fire works. Which was fun until all of the Hermanas almost died! All of the sudden one of the fireworks came flying at us. All I saw was the light and in my mind all I could see was my hair on fire. All of the Hermanas ran away and then somehow it followed us and was under our feet. So just imagine a bunch of sister missionaries running away from a flying ball of fire (this type of firework is called a butterfly) screaming and running into each other. It was pretty funny. We set the alarm to get up at midnight but we were too tired. Next year....

I really love my area and my comp right now I feel like we really complement each other.

This week we had a leadership meeting. One of the Elders who was a Navy Seal or training to be a Navy Seal before the mission told a story about how he wanted to have better aim. He asked his captain to help him. And his captain said he would meet him at the beach at 3 am. He and his captain walked out into the water. The water reached his knees, his waist, chest, and neck. When he was totally under the water his captain held him there for 3 min. He said in that moment he only thought of breathing...not of home...friends..or anything else. When his captain pulled him up from the water he said when you desire to aim well as much as you want to breath you will have success. I really think that applies to the mission. When we desire the salvation of others as much as we want to breath we will have success. President Bautista talked about how much Heavenly Father loves us and the thing he desires most is the salvation of His children. He wants all of us back.

I love you all and hope you have a great week!
Love!
