Hola!
Como estan? Todo utz
aqui.
Well this week has been
crazy. The power went off on Thursday (just as I put my oatmeal in the
microwave). And it hasn’t come on since. It comes on around 10 at night and
shuts off sometime in the morning. We also haven’t had water since Thursday. Luckily
we have a deposit above our house but it’s running low. They said the water
would be turned on Friday, then they said Saturday, then Sunday. And now it’s
Monday and they are saying we won’t have light or water for 15 days! They were
doing maintenance when they broke something and now the part has to be sent
from the states. So life will be a little interesting for the next couple of
weeks. We can live without light but the water situation is a little
complicated. The community well is pretty much just mud and there is a truck
that goes around giving water. I say that we should go to the hot springs!
There are like 3 in Momos. And it’s less then a dollar! But I think we will go
to a member’s house; they have water that comes from a community project.
Last night we had a really
great lesson. There is a boy we are teaching he is 17 and lives in Guatemala
City but comes every two weeks for a soccer tournament. He is friends with an
awesome family. And he has come to church 3 times now. We were teaching the
plan of salvation last night. And I was explaining the 3 degrees of glory. I
love that part. I try to make it a little dramatic so people really understand
what is the difference between the 3 degrees and what they have to do to get
there. I was explaining the celestial kingdom and that’s where we go to live with
Christ and where we can live with Him and our families for eternity. Emerson’s
eyes filled with tears and he later told us that his mom passed away.
This week I have been
studying about the importance of sharing the gospel. I have really been
impressed by the duty we have to share it. We are so blessed to have the gospel
in our lives. We know why we are here and we know where we are going. We have
the thing that will bind our family for eternity. That’s huge! And it was so
amazing to hear Emerson share with us that he wants to serve a mission and he
knows that’s what God expects of him. He’s not even a member!
Mom, what happened with
your cousin’s family is so sad. (Cynthia’s distant cousin, his wife, and two
young children died at home from carbon monoxide poisoning. They also had a son
and a daughter on church missions. KLD) It truly breaks my heart. I can’t
imagine what his children are feeling right now. But I know they must feel very
close to our Savior in this time. I love the hymn “Where can I turn for peace?”
I love the part that says “in my Gethsemane he makes me whole” I know he is there
in the hour of our trials, and he truly understands what we feel. And I know
our families are for forever. What a blessing if they live true to their covenants.
I love you all so much and
hope you are all doing well. I hope you have a great week. I pray for you all
of the time.
Love,
Hermana Davies
